One step at a time - Healthcare Photography in the community
I really love commissions like this, shooting real people in their own homes.. That challenge, of not knowing exactly what you might you get - often working in tight spaces (especially in London - ‘compact and bijou’), when the natural light isn’t always the best. And while it’s always about getting the shots you need, you’re still working in someone’s own home, so you need to work with a degree of sensitivity (and care! Trying to set up and move lights, whilst avoiding flower vases and family pictures on the fireplace and pictures hanging on the walls.)
I was photographing the CNWL NHS Foundation Trust Urgent Response Team based in West London, a kind of ‘Day in the life’ reportage shoot, documenting what they do, and I knew when I read the potential shot list, that the ‘patient home visit’ part of brief had the potential to make for a great shoot. Luckily Jim was awesome on the day, and all fragile ornaments and wall hangings were left unscathed.
