Adam Williamson
It was Adam’s time working with his father - a carpenter - that laid the early foundations for his future artistic trade. Then his thirst for knowledge and learning new skills, combined with his love for immersive travel, meant he spent much of his twenties searching for teachers around the world, to help him learn new techniques to further expand his craft. From wood carving in Malaysia to Biomorphic design in Turkey. Even now Adam says he’s still learning all the time ‘Every job has challenges and new skills that are learnt in a constantly evolving practice’. Like ‘The Sphere’, a commission that’s been nearly a year in the making and is an incredible feat of engineering (definitely worth taking a look at the how it was made video on his IG feed ). Adam was also a resident artist at what was ‘The Princes School of Traditional Arts(now Kings School of traditional Arts), in Shoreditch where he was noticed for his aptitude with wood, and asked to carve wood plaques for several unveilings, that were opened by the then Prince Charles each time, and In those short interactions he built up a rapport with him, which led to a number personal wood carving commissions with King Charles.
