Zì yóu !

With my prized 'point and shoot' in for repair, and no camera to pop in my pocket when I'm out and about on the streets of London, I really had no idea how I'd continue the blog! So I decided to dig through my archives, to see if I could find one picture that might offer some sort of inspiration.

I took this picture many years ago when I was travelling, using a 40-year-old Canon AE1 film camera. Back then I had no idea how to take a good picture - didn't know my f-stops from my depth of field - so whilst it's not perfectly exposed and the colours aren't spot on, for me it brings back special memories.

My recollection's a bit vague now, but I can remember cycling into a small village somewhere in South-West China. I stopped to drink some water from a bottle in my backpack, and as I did, I noticed a few little faces peering out of a 2nd floor window. I put the water away and cycled on. Minutes later I heard children yelling and screaming enthusiastically and turned round to see about 100 little school kids running through the street after me, closely pursued by several teachers shouting at them  'Get back here right now!' ( I'm guessing that's what they said as my Mandarin was far from perfect!).  By the time I had my camera in hand, with the right lense attached, most of the children had started to make there way obediently back to school. However these little cheeky chaps hung around long enough for me to get a quick frame and a lifelong memory.
